The old medieval town of Piran with its narrow streets and tightly packed houses reigns already for centuries over the bay of Piran. Maritime trade and the trade with the hinterland, salt pans and the ideal climate ensured wealth and power to Piran. Elder scientists support the supposition that the origin of the name Piran could derive from the Celtic word bior-dun, supposed to mean a settlement on the hill, while younger generation advocates the explanation of the Greek word pyr – fire, as the original settlement was primarily used as a lighthouse for vessels sailing to nearby Greek colony Aegida on the site of today town Koper.

Rok Predin in the field of Slovenian popular music, original music is not often referred to as an individual genre. But individuality is the very element which defines music most thoroughly. Just as we know where people come from simply by the dialect they speak, we recognise some musicians from the language of their music, which is, in such a case, hard to define in the context of ordinary popular music genres or even trends.

The Slovenian Istra is situated in one of the northernmost geographical positions in the Mediterranean, where the olive tree still grows. In terms of its olive oil production, Slovenia is just a small dot on the world map if we consider the statistical data which show that approx. 600,000 olive trees are planted on its soil (for a better explanation suffice it to say that only one of the major Spanish producers cultivates one million olive trees).

Recognition and reaction to the context, location of the neuralgic points, use of the local visual, symbolic and other ‘languages’, exploration of the art scene and its critical frame are the main determinants of his artistic activity. At the same time it is the search for a human dimension and ’spiritual gravity’, natural speed of life and balance between the human, the nature and God.
