Month of Design is an annual, month-long design event held in and around the Slovene capital of Ljubljana, a project dedicated each year to a specific topic of global relevance, and to exploring the role of design in creative industries, business, culture and social practices.
This year, the Month of Design, held Oct. 15 – Nov. 15, 2009, takes as its theme “Sustaining Design Excellence”, exploiting a number of platforms and avenues that bring together people from a vast array of design-related professions and practices.
More than 100 individual events, from conferences and seminars to exhibitions, installations and shows take place all over the city – and beyond. Conference 09, Design EXPO – Brands & Science, Design in the City, MoD Design Awards, and Eat & Drink Design represent the larger event-groups under the highly-animated Month of Design umbrella.
Very new this year is the addition of an exciting new main venue – the Sloveniales retail and commercial complex in central Ljubljana – which offers a dynamic, purpose-designed array of alternative spaces set in compelling concrete urban modernism.
Last year, the entire Month of Design 08 event – including Conference 08, Design in the City and many other happenings and events – drew an estimated 10,000 visitors. This year, with the addition of EXPO 09, well more than 20,000 visitors are expected.

Dommo represents a line of modern furniture made of solid wood that is characterized by simple shapes complemented by a rich structure and various shades of wood. We would like to present a new member of our wooden family –Trem, a chest of drawers with a distinctive touch of Mladen Treppo, an eminent Slovene architect.

5. November, Fashion show Miro design, Grand Hotel Union, Miklošičeva 1, Ljubljana

Mirodesign is a creative team presented by the owner of the fashion brand Miro Mišljen – a renowned designer and Jana Koteska – designer and a model. Their common path leads to the streets of Ljubljana’s old city centre, where at Gornji trg 7 you are enchanted by fashion store Miro design. Unique creations which long for an international renown are well worth seeing at the fashion show held on 5th November at the Grand Hotel Union.

Every year a new young generation gets addicted by design. Their passion for creating is shown everywhere. From a simple dot to a decorative initial or moving pictures, from a textile pattern to extravagant creation, from a simple revolved shape to a futuristic vehicle.We free the fantasy its way but we are learning all the time that real art is to make a dream come true. We do not cure that kind of addiction. Moreover, we keep encouraging them to create and study more…

Studio Pozitive fashion designers filled up the wardrobes of id:doma. Event took place on 28th of October. Creations includes pieces designed by Nadja Bedjanič, Nina Holc, Nina Košak, Aleksandra Ilič, Nika Ravnik, Nataša Kovač, Olga Košica, Zelolepo, Fensišmensi and Sofia Nogard.

28. October, WOL DA the Worldwide Logo Design Annual 2008, Galerija Dvorni bar, Židovska ulica, Ljubljana

The event presented the selection from the Worldwide Logo Design Annual 2008 (WOLDA) which received more than 1100 applications in the field of innovative graphic design, logos and trademarks from 43 countries including successful Slovene participants Teja Kleč, Darko Miladinovič awarded for the graphic design of logo.
