Was it the beginning or the end of an era? Are we going to long remember it or try to forget it fast? Was its bigness and iconic flamboyance inspiring or discouraging? Was its main virtue welfare or crisis, progressive inventiveness or decadent proliferation? Was it mostly good or bad, nice or sad? MORE…

The old medieval town of Piran with its narrow streets and tightly packed houses reigns already for centuries over the bay of Piran. Maritime trade and the trade with the hinterland, salt pans and the ideal climate ensured wealth and power to Piran. Elder scientists support the supposition that the origin of the name Piran could derive from the Celtic word bior-dun, supposed to mean a settlement on the hill, while younger generation advocates the explanation of the Greek word pyr – fire, as the original settlement was primarily used as a lighthouse for vessels sailing to nearby Greek colony Aegida on the site of today town Koper.

Situated at the foot of a mountain on the Turkish Riviera, is a small beach town known as Oludeniz. Not only is this town famous for it’s breathtaking landscape of brilliant blue waters and vivid green forests, but it is also arguably one of the best places in the world to go paragliding.
For many of the thousands of tourists every year, paragliding is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, a moment captured through a fish-eye lens and displayed proudly on their lounge room walls. But for approximately 150 of the local men, this is not an experience but a way of life.

In the locality of Baredi above Izola there is an oilve grove of 600 trees, where Miran Adamič makes one of the best olive oils in Slovenia. The Slovenian Istra is situated in one of the northernmost geographical positions in the Mediterranean, where the olive tree still grows. In terms of its olive oil production, Slovenia is just a small dot on the world map if we consider the statistical data which show that approx. 600,000 olive trees are planted on its soil (for a better explanation suffice it to say that only one of the major Spanish producers cultivates one million olive trees).

In the current discourse on transformation let us briefly focus on the growing importance of body care, the obsession with the body, and the predominance of the visual-external, corporeality, and different ways in which these phenomena impact the common comprehension of space. This new (e)valuation of the body is taking over the realm of aesthetics, adding to it yet more superficial connotations.

All sarma are not created equal – [and we thought they were just cabbage rolls]
Serbian cuisine is a collection of different cultural influences. It emerged from a colourful history of instability and the uncertainty of the country’s terrain. Here East and West are constantly vying for domination and leave, like the last of the wine in a glass, traces of very special rituals and recipes. Only later did these traces become purified, crystallized. With the flow of time, they took root in people’s consciences as authentic symbols of local tradition.

“Nebesa” is an old name for the mountainside pasture on which the Nebesa resort stands. The name translates into English as “Heaven”, a title the locals conferred on this place long ago, when they recognized – celebrated – the special qualities that constitute divine transcendence; the ultimate escape.
While many, if not most, other offers of hospitality and accommodation are about an array of services, activities, facilities and more, the more often ends up being less; the whole ends up being less than its composite parts. MORE…
