Branko Uršič served almost his entire years of service in Stol Kamnik. The majority of Stol’s most successful products bears his signature.
He received numerous awards and prizes, and presented himself at many trade shows. His special attitude to wood, the creativity that sought its ideals in simplicity, clear design and careful execution of Scandinavian design, whilst committed to domestic tradition, made him one of our most prominent industrial designers as early as the mid nineteen sixties. The point of departure of the Temporary dwelling unit designed to solve residential hardships following natural disasters, which brought Nina Hercog and Mateja Martini the university student Prešeren Award, presents an in-depth analysis of the state of climate change and existing tools and installations that can solve dwelling problems in the aftermath of natural disasters. The students also accurately examined guidelines and development of the living culture of the 20th Century with an emphasis on the period following the Second World War. Their work lead them to a detailed study and analysis of a major natural disaster and the method of solving dwelling problems both in Slovenia and on a larger, global scale. MORE…

At the time of nomination (May 09), the Multimedia Triangle Maribor 2012 project, designed by architect Jan Hadžić, was the only serious and complete work of architecture or unique architectural platform that would allow implementation of the anticipated programme for the European Capital of Culture, the title of which went to the Portuguese city of Guimaraes and Slovenian city of Maribor in 2012. Uroš Rustja belongs to the youngest generation of architects who recently graduated from the Faculty of Architecture. Despite not really having realised any of his study projects from the faculty and the first small developments, interventions or competition solutions outside of the faculty, one can sense that this is a special, rather mature, complete and at the same time a sensitive personality.
