ŠKUC is one of the leading non-governmental organisations promoting non-profit cultural and artistic activity in Slovenia. And this year from 17.7. till 26.7. is once again representing various young slovenian artist in festival Dobimo se pred Škucem / Let’s Meet in Front of ŠKUC .
Festival Dobimo se pred Škucem / Let’s Meet in Front of ŠKUC introduces a number of cultural events with free admission, every year in July at Stari trg square in Ljubljana.
Its intent is to boost a variety of summer events in the streets of Old Ljubljana. The festival usually presents mostly still unknown but talented young slovenian artists and gives them oportunity to present their work to a wider audience. Festival is not limited regarding what it promotes, it consist of concerts, literary evenings, theatre performances, film projections, art exhibitions, fashion events, creative workshops etc.
Musical section Muzika na Starem trgu / Music at Stari trg square consists of concerts of bands, which are selected by public invitation. Selected bands in 2009 are: Incurabili, Trak 47, Polimodio, Mlada beltinška banda, Uluru, Leon Matek trio, Franc&Roses, Bogunov and Žambo žoet workestrao.
Theatrical section Teater v galeriji / Theatre in the gallery consists of the following plays Milena Zupančič v tej igri ne igra, Večna medikacija, Ostržek, Iz principa, Pisali so na čela sten, Kovček, Tinko Polovinko and Bela mačica.
Educational cultural program for kids Škucove packarije / ŠKUC doodles and for teenagers Ustvarjalno2 / Creative2 where kids, and teenagers under the supervision of experienced menthors give a way to their creativity in several different fields of apllied arts.
Osebno v tekstilu / Personal in textile is a kind of market place. Students of textile design will prepare a permanent sales exhibition and also a fashion show on 17th of July. Students will introduce themselves with a workshop, fashion performances and interactive art exhibition. Programme will take place on the street.
There will be an offer of books and CDs of publishers Založba ŠKUC and Centre for slovenian literature at reduced prices. Urša Štrukelj, Maja Rijavec and Maja Modrijan will introduce themselves as creators of recycled products at Smetumet štantek / Smetumet stand.
Literary and film program will be created together with cooperation of Zavod Vertigo and Centre for slovenian literature. Program will consist of literary-musical manifestation of Paraliterary organisations I.D.I.O.T. and two documentary films, Film pred oltarjem / Film at the Altar, directed by Metod Pevec and Jesenice : Detroit / Jesenice vs. Detroit, directed by Damjan Kozole, both produced by Zavod Vertigo.
ŠKUC doodles and Creative2 starts at 6:00 PM.
Music at Stari trg square will take place between 8:30 and 22:00 PM.
Theatre at the gallery or a film projection starts at 22:00 PM.
Cultural events are all admission-free and will take place every day between 17th and 26th of July 2009 between 5:00 and 11:00 PM inside or in front of Galerija Škuc at Stari trg square, Ljubljana.
