Sushi, sashimi, kebab, spring rolls, paella, pizza. One of the most evident signs of globalisation is actually food. In any big city the world over you can eat most any kind of cuisine. Chinese restaurants were probably the first serving ethnic food abroad; today the cooler include Japanese sushi or what’s called “fusion” food – a mixture of ingredients from many cultures.

How to the city can be transformed by an apartment interior and the life within

Can residents, in the way they inhabit and make use of their apartment in an urban apartment block influence the image of the city, of its character, and its atmosphere? plasche

“Plasche” is a bag with changeable plastic jackets. The core is sewn out of denim or terry cloth while the exterior is composed of different plastic bags. So you buy the inside once and enhance the outer look. Available in two sizes: 25×35 cm or 20×20 cm. The designer’s work is largely an ironic view on people using objects and giving them different stories and souls before throwing them away. Design: kubiquelle, Austria

Each day we find more innovative, eye-catching bags out there. They make for a great creative playground and a cheap but effective marketing tool. Some bag facts: polyethylene is cheaper and lighter than paper, which is why shopping bags are largely made of plastic. While most stores provide cheap, reusable shopping bags in an effort to cut down on costs and waste, many more out there don’t. The solution: take your own bag and transform it into a new, durable – ad flashy – one.
