Maximal Design’s Soul Ash Solace Cremation Coffin & Urn
Cremation demands specific solutions, so Belgium’s Maximal Design has created a cremation coffin with integrated urn in order to appeal to the specific functional needs and emotional circumstances of a cremation funeral.
According to the office, most coffins on the market are very expensive and aren’t made for burning. Instead, their cremation coffin is fully-executed in ecologically-sound materials (corrugated board, papier-mâché and wood), is moderately-priced and burns easily. As a result, the cremation process also proceeds faster, lending it both an economical as well as ecological benefit.

Atop the coffin is a ‘memory capsule’, an urn made of stainless steel with the shape of an hourglass – a reference to both time and earth. The urn withstands the cremation process during which it will becomes coloured through the heat, giving it a personal patina.

This is by far one of the most interesting urns/coffin I have ever laid my eyes on. I love the idea of the hour glass urn that is heated through the fire. This is extremely interesting, and I am going to have to show this to a few of the funeral directors I know because they wont believe me.
Thanks,
Chad
